Art, Music & Dance Festival
Friday, May 10 – 4 pm to 8 pm | Saturday, May 11 – 10 am to 4 pm

with Fire Dancing with Alaya Crystal and Friends starting at 8pm on Friday evening

The Chico Art Festival (formerly Art at the Matador and Art Fiesta) will take place Friday and Saturday, May 10 & 11 on the beautiful outdoor campus of the St. John’s Episcopal Church on Floral Avenue in Chico. This will be the 11th annual Mother’s Day Weekend art festival organized by ChiVAA, the Chico Visual Arts Alliance. This event is free to the public.

This will be our third year since the name changed to Chico Art Festival, and with moving to the Floral Avenue location, all with the goal of uniting artists, art organizations, and the public within a beautiful, serene oasis. This festival fosters the awareness that a strong arts community makes Chico a great place in which to live.

This year, we plan to meet and exceed expectations for a spirit renewing art festival on Mother’s Day weekend. Last year’s the Chico ART Festival got rare reviews by attendees and participating artists alike and we brought back more dance events with the return of a fire dancers show Friday evening and Ballet Folklorico de Chico on Saturday. Our event was the Chico News and Review Best of Chico 2022 Editors’ Pick as the “Best Revival of a Community Event“. CN&R went on to say “The return of this beloved event is one of the highlights of 2022.”

St John’s Episcopal Church, with its extensive grounds offer us, and our attendees, a serene oasis with beautiful gardens to meander through, a playground, plus plenty of space for our outdoor booths, a large outdoor tent for our live music entertainment, plenty of parking, and even a labyrinth to walk through.

Our two-day, one-stop Art Expo has four goals: to showcase our local artists, to promote Chico as an arts destination center, to educate the public about the variety and value of art in our community, and to throw a really great Chico-style party.

Local artists transform their spaces into imaginative galleries open to the public. In addition, we also have booths for selected community organizations promoting the community well being and its art. We showcase live music and local talents. This is a joyous event, free, and family friendly with live music and dance, art demos, fun art activities for kids, food trucks, specialty coffees and margaritas.
